These days, business moves at
the pace of technology. Thanks to J.D. Edwards, the College of
Business now has ERP (Enterprise Resource Planning) software to teach
students how to maximize technology to serve customers. J.D. Edwards &
Company donated four sets of their flagship business program OneWorld to
the College of Business. The Denver-based company's gift is the largest
corporate gift and the second largest monetary donation in the
University history. "It will help students learn the scope of today's
business software, both within a corporation and outside," said John
Sawyer, a J.D. Edwards spokesman. "Relationships between high-tech
companies and academic institutions are really powerful combinations."
Ted Weston, a professor in Computer Information Systems, says that the
software allows a company and its employees to track orders, sales
forecasts, new part numbers, new customers, and new vendors all at once,
in multiple languages and currency values. The software is an
enhancement to the graduate Business programs in Computer Information
Systems and Accounting and soon will be integrated into undergraduate
Business Courses.
