Criteria for acceptance into the College of Business is rigorous, based on additional entrance requirements that are beyond admission to the University.

New Freshmen

  • Admission to the College of Business is competitive. 

    • An example of an individual that would be considered for admission is:

      • 3.1 Cumulative GPA

      • SAT score of 1200 (math and reading portions only) or ACT score of 27

  • Direct admits to the College will not be permitted to take upper division Business courses until they have successfully completed BUS100, Introduction to Business, and completed both MATH141, Calculus-Management Sciences and ECONC202, Principles of Microeconomics, with a grade of "C" (not "C-") or better in each. Upon completion of these requirements, students will be permitted to "declare" a concentration within the College.

  • Freshman students not directly admitted to the College of Business will be offered admission to Open Option Seeking Business. These students will be advised by the Center for Advising and Student Achievement (CASA) and encouraged to investigate all business related majors offered at Colorado State.

Transfers from Other Majors at CSU (Includes Open Option Seeking Business)

  • A currently enrolled student in good standing may be admitted to the College of Business if the student has completed MATH141 and ECON202 with a grade of "B-" or better and achieved a CSU cumulative GPA of at least 3.0 on a minimum of 15 graded credits.

  • Students not admitted in to the College of Business will not be permitted to take Business courses.

  • Students who have exceeded the maximum completed credit limit (30 credits completed at CSU if you were a transfer student from another institution; 45 credits completed at CSU if you entered CSU as a new freshman) must submit the Credit Limit Appeal Form.

  • Students who have taken any courses at CSU must have a 3.0 cumulative grade point average on a minimum of 15 graded credits at CSU to be admitted to the College of Business.

Transfers from Other Institutions

  • An external transfer student will be directly admitted to the College of Business if the student has completed MATH141, Calculus-Management Sciences, and ECON202, Principles of Microeconomics, or their equivalent, with a grade of "B-" or better and achieved a cumulative GPA of at least 3.0 on a minimum of 15 graded credits.

  • Students not meeting these criteria will be admitted to Open Option Seeking Business. These students will be advised by the Center for Advising and Student Achievement and encouraged to investigate all business related majors offered at Colorado State University.

  • Students who have taken any courses at CSU must have a 3.0 cumulative grade point average on 15 graded credits at CSU to be admitted to the College of Business.
     

Open Option Seeking Business Advising
Open Option Seeking Business students are advised at the Center for Advising and Student Achievement (CASA) located at 202 Aylesworth Hall NE, (970) 491-7095.

Once a student is admissible to the College of Business, he/she should contact the Undergraduate Programs Office at 178 Rockwell Hall (970) 491-5103 to change his/her major and to schedule an appointment with an advisor.
